Convea Overview
Convea (pronounced Conveyor) has been designed
to improve business communication, collaboration and coordination.
The Convea business application framework provides a fully configurable
web workspace in which to run web applications helping businesses
increase productivity and reduce costs. Convea includes over 19
applications, tools and business utilities, including:
Email:
Convea's e-mail module provides complete control
of any organization's e-mail requirements. Users can instantly send
local e-mail to other Convea users or to individuals across the
Internet. It is easy to manage multiple accounts, create mail folders,
and set up auto-filing rules. Signatures and HTML e-mail provide
the ability to customize messages. The e-mail utility is also fully
integrated with other Convea modules, allowing users to send messages
from within other applications.
Powerful features such as grouping and searching
provide the flexibility to quickly sort through and identify important
mail. With Convea, there is no need for an e-mail server, as messages
remain on the Convea system, where they can be accessed from virtually
anywhere.
Group Calendaring & Scheduling
Convea's Calendar is a full-featured module that
allows users to create tasks & events and share those events
with others. Multiple views provide the ability to track the current
day, week, working week, or month. Colleagues can easily view the
calendars and events scheduled by other members of their team, simplifying
tasks such as planning meetings or vacation time.
Convea's Scheduler provides complementary functionality
to the Calendar application. Its intuitive interface allows events
to be dragged to new dates for hassle-free rescheduling. Tracking
tasks and timelines via this module simplifies the processes of
event scheduling & project management.
Group Discussion
The Group Discussion utility allows teams of two
or more to easily engage in public or private discussions. This
powerful tool overcomes geographic barriers and email lag-times
in allowing teams located anywhere to participate in text conversations.
By reducing the need for meetings and allowing employees to share
answers and ideas, the Group Discussion module helps increase the
overall productivity of an organization.
Instant Messaging
Convea's Instant Messaging module allows users
to rapidly message others who are online. This utility is ideal
for carrying on multiple conversations at the same time or for having
quick, short conversations that do not warrant a full fledged discussion.
Instant message conversations allow team members to communicate
at their own pace, while continuing to perform their own work, hence
reducing the need to set aside dedicated time for meetings.
Instant Conferencing
The Conferencing module allows users to quickly
and easily set up online group meeting rooms and conduct meetings,
presentations and seminars. When simple text messaging or a Group
Discussion is not sufficient, this utility allows team members to
conduct meetings "in person" from virtually anywhere.
When in "conference" users can easily exchange files and
other data with any or all users in the room. At the end of a discussion
convenient features like "Save Minutes" will save the
minutes of the conference in HTML document format, for easy distribution
to all contributors.
Knowledge Management
The Knowledge Base is an information-rich database
that allows users to create and share data on any subject or item.
A common use for a Knowledge Base is to store the answers and solutions
to frequently encountered problems or issues. Retaining such knowledge
is highly beneficial to an organization, as it reduces the need
to duplicate efforts in resolving difficult issues or finding answers
to esoteric questions. A well-built and maintained Knowledge Base
allows employees to work more independently and efficiently.
File Management
Convea's File Manager is a central repository where
files of any format can be stored and shared with others. Whether
the files are sales reports, source code or binary applications,
the File Manager simplifies their storage and dissemination. Instead
of sending large attachments to groups of people via email, for
example, such files can be stored within the File Manager, where
they are accessed when needed, and by those who need them. Development
teams that wish to share collaborative code with others can easily
create a work area to load and download the content. The uses of
the File Manager module are virtually endless. Convea's "System
Folders", such as "My Documents" and "My Pictures"
give users an easy and robust way to maintain their own file space.
Sharing files with other users is as simple as placing them into
their "My Shared Files" folder.
News and Events Management
The News and Events module is a full-featured content
creation and distribution tool that allows Convea users to create
and share news with others. This module provides the ideal channel
for project managers to share status reports with team members,
for developers to notify colleagues of code changes, or for management
to keep employees informed of corporate decisions. As with all other
Convea modules, News and Events fully supports Convea's User Access
Profiles- letting managers and administrators determine which users
can create, edit or administer the information contained within
the application.
Comprehensive Site Admin
The Site Manager is used to manage all aspects
of a Convea system, from the Users to Disk Storage and Security
features. This module allows an administrative user to fully monitor,
maintain, and modify an organization's Convea system, and the ability
to perform this work remotely via the web-based interface is a key
feature of the module.
